Major League Studlies ♥
Now that I'm done moving out of my apartment for the most part (I'm living with my boyfriend till this weekend when I really leave Michigan for good), and Ichiro has reached his 200+ hit and all that the Mariners are doing now are playing the spoiler role (really well, if I say so myself), there's so much wiggle room in my personal life and topics I can write on.
![]()
Then I remembered a guy commenting on one of my first entries ever. With the support of other bloggers (you know who you are), he was reported and blocked from commenting on any MLBlog ever from that point on...but anyway, I was thinking about what he had said. He was talking about (all in capslock) how I was writing this blog to get male attention, how I didn't know smack about baseball, how females should never talk about baseball because we'll never understand it as well as males do, how females only love baseball because of the tight uniforms and the players....
....and so I dedicate this entry to that guy.
I think it's ridiculous that he thinks I can't talk baseball, but mostly because he was such a sexist oink-oink. Sure, the ratio of men to women that can straight talk baseball or fill in a score-card properly is unbalanced but look at this blogosphere, what a great example! There are a lot of ladies that write fantastic blogs that can talk baseball for days and discuss stats with the best of 'em. ![]()
Another thing. I don't think it's unprofessional at all that the ladies like what they're looking at. Puh-lease! You can't tell me that guys watch beach volleyball or football or basketball or tennis without checking out the athletes or the cheerleaders! So for anyone to tell me that I can't appreciate eye-candy when I see one? Boy, just build a bridge and get over it because I see it as just another way to appreciate the game of baseball aside from the stats, competition and pride for your team.
And last but not least? Trust me when I say I don't watch 160-something games or learn the athletes names or keep up with stats or waste money on over-priced garlic fries and stadium seats just for male attention. You know why I say that? It's because I've actually scared more than a few guys off with my baseball knowledge. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's definitely not attracting male attention.
So that's all the ranting from me...and now on to the good stuff (that'll make that guy want to jump off a cliff). This is a compilation (in no specific order) of what I call : "My FHH List" [FHH=Future Husband Hopefuls]
1. David Wright (New York Mets)
2. Gil Meche (Kansas City Royals)
3. Russell Branyan (Seattle Mariners)
4. Jack Hannahan (Seattle Mariners)
5. J.J Hardy (Milwaukee Brewers)
That is all....for now ♥

ive always enjoyed your blog. you absolutely know your baseball stuff and have a knack for relaying great information. your passion is second to none. im still wearing my mariners jacket even though baseball really isnt on my mind anymore. the pirates have lost 17 of their last 20 and its killing any thing i have built up in me to watch baseball. its football season in my eyes, even though baseball still comes first

Wow. I'm glad that commenter hasn't reared his macho head ever again! What a jerk. Of course women can appreciate good looking players and still be knowledgeable about the game. And we are knowledgeable. Look at all the female bloggers on this site! Pay no attention to that kind of negativity and just keep having fun. Good luck with the move too!

Yes, young lady, take another look at Andre. I suppose I don't care what people say. I write my blog because I love the Dodgers and want everyone to share in my fun experiences. I go by myself to all the games and might meet friends there. I love players who are doing well, not so much paying attention to how they look. It is a bonus when hunks like Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp are as talented as they are. Don't pay attention to ignorant people, male or female, they lose out in the long run by their negativity. We all write our blogs because we love baseball. Those losers are probably jealous because you are smart as well as beautiful. Oh, well..........

I'm so glad you stumbled upon my blog! I always love to hear from the ladies that love the game as much as I do. And I especially loved seeing this post when I came to check out your blog. There is absolutely nothing wrong with appreciating the boys themselves as much as we appreciate their athletic abilities. Keep checking back on mine--the Top 10 Baseball Hotties list is getting a makeover and should be up soon!

Women are just as smart as men when it comes to sports, and vise versa :) Keep up the good work and i'll be back. I'll be doing a piece on the hottest women in sports :0

Wow! I love your hubby list! Reminds me of my cutie lists! Hannahan is frikin' gorgeous, he was on one of my cutie posts. I agree with you 100000% about that jerk who commented on your blog. We women are very passionate, and when we find something we like, we REALLY like it. Baseball is that thing for you and me, and thousands of other females. Duh, we like the hot guys, but that is NO WAY the reason why we watch the game. That has got to be the most ignorant, stereotypical, down-right retarded statement ever. 'Girls only like baseball cuz of the guys." Absolutely NOT true. Sure, I point out the hotties and drool over them, but would love the game just as much even if I never saw sexy-thangs like Mitre.....Thank you SO much for this post, Diamond, it is SO true. I love baseball and I know so much about it, and I always will. :)

What a great post! I know how you feel. I was born and raised on sports, more specifically hockey and baseball. Guys are always shocked when I tell them I know more than them and actually do. I have scared many guys away because of this fact. I figure...their loss...not mine. So forget that guy, glad he was banned from commenting, can't believe that some idiots can be so closed minded! Last week I was actually told I didn't know the fundamentals of baseball by a guy and then schooled him since he, in fact, didn't know the fundamentals, like where a pitcher should stand when the play is at home plate.
Yes, the hot guys (you missed Derek Jeter) are an added bonus, but I would continuously watch baseball even if the guys on the field were less than stellar in the looks department. Keep on blogging and showing those male chauvinists that us girls do know our baseball!

you go girl! Way to rep the female fans out there :D I applaud you *standing O* I definitely know what you are talking about. Females have it hard when it comes to sports (even jobs) you have to be better than the best in order for other people to take you seriously. Whatever i (and other die hard female sports fans) have nothing to prove! :D yay for you!
Now that's out of the way.. what no Brian Roberts? James Loney? Matt Kemp? cooome on!! ;)
p.s. Seattle has a great pitching staff not to mention a manager that kept them above .500 i think Wakamatsu is going to stay! i'm sure they'll come together eventually

Wow, you scare me! LOL...I kid. It's refreshing to know that many gal-fans actually appreciate and know the game. Of course, if your M's swipe 2nd place from my Rangers I may have to come over here and throw an all caps temper tantrum myself!
:^)

Wow. You go girl! I absolutely love this post.
I agree 100% with you. I've got similar criticism before. Few guys at my school dissed me by saying that girly girl like me ('cause I wear heels frequently) have no knowledge of baseball. I telled them off by talking about Padres and baseball in general for two straight minutes and how they need to get a grip.
Think about it. They are just haters and haters always fail at life.
By the way, David Wright is gorgeous :)

Damn straight! Kick **** entry right here! You are so right, and I know exactly how you feel. I've had countless experiences such as this, and this is the true struggle for women in the sports world. But we'll show them! I'm pretty sure I've scared guys off too with either a) my knowledge (since I know more than them) or b) because I like it wayyy too much.
Great future husband hopefuls... David Wright is on mine too. My list seems to grow every single day.
